Site Update

28 June 2015

We're just one month away from the retail release of Windows 10. If you're wondering whether I'll be doing a TweakGuides Tweaking Companion for Windows 10, the answer at the moment is "maybe". There are a range of reasons for this confusing answer, but the two biggest ones are that firstly, I'm unsure how well Windows 10 will be received by the public and what its adoption rate will be; and secondly, I strongly suspect that Microsoft will make significant changes to Windows 10 within the first 6-12 months of its release. So right now I feel that there's little point in investing a lot of effort into writing a book that few people will read initially, and which will subsequently require a lot of re-testing and editing. I'm going to wait a while and see how things pan out, possibly releasing the TGTC for Windows 10 late this year or in early 2016. Personally, despite the fact that I see no compelling reason to upgrade, aside from perhaps DirectX 12, I will nevertheless be upgrading my own system to Windows 10 on July 29 and using it as my daily OS.
