A new Version 2.28.1091 of the free CCleaner system cleaning utility has been released. This version adds support for custom locations for applications, improves Windows 7 Jumplist and toolbar support, adds new command line parameters, and has a range of other improvements and fixes.

ATI has released a Mass Effect 2 Hotfix graphics driver. This hotfix driver resolves the problem of Anti-aliasing not being available in Mass Effect 2 on CrossFireX configurations.

Nvidia Beta Forceware 196.34

Nvidia has released the Beta Forceware 196.34 driver for Windows XP, Vista and 7. These drivers are for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200 and ION series cards. They fix a bug in the 196.21 Forceware drivers which prevented GPU overclocking. The package also contains the 9.09.1112 PhysX drivers.

Microsoft has released a critical Security Update for various versions of Internet Explorer in Windows. This update addresses a recently discovered security vulnerability. It is available from the link above or via Windows Update.
Firefox 3.6

Mozilla has released Version 3.6 of the Firefox browser. This is a major release, as it updates Firefox with a range of changes, most of which are under the hood, resulting in faster performance, greater stability and support for new web technologies. Aside from the speed improvements, the most obvious new features of Firefox 3.6 include Personas which allow users to quickly preview and apply simple themes to the browser, and a new Tab Switcher window. I have updated the Firefox Tweak Guide for Firefox 3.6, and major changes are denoted in bold.

Nvidia has released the Official Forceware 196.21 driver for Windows XP, Vista and 7. These drivers are for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200 and ION series cards. These WHQL drivers add SLI and multi-GPU support for a range of games including Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Dirt 2 and Serious Sam HD. They also contain various bug fixes. The driver package contains the 9.09.1112 PhysX drivers.

A new Version 1.53.1 of the CPU-Z information utility has been released. This update fixes a validation bug on AMD Phenoms and provides support for the Intel Pinetrail platform.
Word 2007 Update

Microsoft has released an Update for Word 2007 which removes a custom XML tagging implementation. This update is part of a court-ordered requirement which Microsoft must comply with. Installing this update means that Word will no longer read custom XML elements in DOCX, DOCM, or XML files, but this is not a feature commonly used by most people. You should not install this update unless otherwise indicated to you by Microsoft.

Microsoft has released the official US retail price for the different versions of the upcoming Office 2010 suite, ranging from $199 to $499. Note that purchasing a Product Key Card is cheaper than the physical boxed copy, however it comes with no installation media and you are limited to installing Office 2010 on one PC as opposed to two. The final version of Office 2010 is due by June this year.

Nvidia PhysX 9.09.1112

Nvidia has released the 9.09.1112 PhysX drivers for Nvidia PhysX-capable GPUs and Ageia PPUs. This version provides optimal performance in PhysX-capable games and resolves some issues. Note that this driver was released several weeks ago but has only recently come to my attention. It is also not yet part of the latest Nvidia Forceware drivers, which still use PhysX 9.09.0814
